Neighborhoods

A wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic groups call the Northeast LA communities home.  As the epicenter at the dawn of the film industry, Northeast LA has long attracted an eclectic assortment of musicians, artists, writers as well as a sizeable gay population, creating an urban, independent, counter-culture vibe with a decidedly “live and let live” attitude.   Over the last decade, a significant amount of gentrification in the region has made the area very attractive not only to creatives, but also to young professionals looking for an affordable, vibrant and bustling community within easy commuting distance to Downtown LA and other work centers.  A young family-friendly environment has also emerged as residents have stayed to raise their children in the neighborhoods.

The Northeast LA communities enjoy a thriving nightlife with cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Outdoor activities abound, not only surrounding the Silver Lake reservoir, but also Griffith Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country, with 4,210 acres of land dedicated to public use.  Griffith Park not only has endless hiking, biking, picnicking and athletic fields and 2 golf courses, but is also home to the LA Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory and the outdoor amphitheater, the “Greek.”  Sporting events are easily accessible with Dodger Stadium in the Northeast’s backyard and Staples Center – home to the NBA’s LA Lakers and LA Clippers and the NHL’s LA Kings — is just “down the street” in Downtown LA.

And if that’s not enough to keep you busy, Northeast LA enjoys easy freeway access to the cities of Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena for additional dining, shopping and entertainment possibilities.
